Finally Accomplish Your New Year's Resolution

Do you know what percentage of people actually accomplish their New Year’s Resolution?

9%. NINE. It’s literally the German word for ‘No’.

What about the people who give up in the first week? 23%. Michael Jordan would be very disappointed.

How about those who give up by the end of January? 43%. In just 4 short weeks, nearly half of us will have given up.

Let’s scream it from the mountain tops together: IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE THIS WAY!

But why? Why do some many people set goals and fail to accomplish them? Well, if I had to guess, I’d say it’s a variety of the following factors:

Not knowing where to start

Not creating a plan

Not getting results fast enough

Going It Alone

Let’s approach these factors one at a time and see how we can circumvent these pitfalls.

NOT KNOWING WHERE TO START

First, we have to set a goal. Is it to lose weight? If so, how much? Is it to replace fat with muscle? Increase flexibility? Endurance? Stamina? Lower blood pressure? Improve quality of life? All of the above?

Knowing what we want to accomplish is great, but we then have to know where to start. You can’t run a mile without taking the first step. My job is to help identity what the first step is by addressing your current strengths and weaknesses. Do you have knee pain caused by being overweight? Are you low energy from living a sedentary life style? Are you struggling to get to the gym because you don’t have time?

If we can discuss your goals and identify the roadblocks, we can start the process of finding work arounds to get you on your way. Our first session is about doing just that: understanding where you are so we can get you where you want to go.

NOT CREATING A PLAN

Okay. We know our goal. Now, how do we get there? The answer is: CONSISTENCY. Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither is a healthy lifestyle. It’s fairly easy and common to race out of the gate with your NY Resolution and burn out quickly. How do we avoid this and create consistent habits?

Motivation and Accountability. I’ll be honest. Anyone can create a workout. The hard part is actually completing that workout in a safe, effective manner and doing so consistently to achieve the desired results.

That’s what I provide. By showing up to your door, I’ve removed your ability to quit, to put off, to say ‘I’ll do it tomorrow’. I’m here. We’re in this together. Let’s get moving.

Together, we’ll create a plan and a schedule you can stick to and finally make the consistent changes you need to accomplish your goals.

NOT GETTING RESULTS FAST ENOUGH

Lose 30 pounds in 30 days! Lose 100 pounds in six weeks! Look like Dwayne Johnson in 48 hours!

We’ve all seen these clickbait ads and ridiculous promises made by salesman pushing ineffective programs and useless supplements.

Here’s the truth. There is no quick fix to changing your body. The healthiest way to lose weight is slowly, ideally 1-2 pounds per week. To accomplish this slow, consistent weight loss, we need to identify your caloric intake, the amount of calories used every day, and create the formula to put you in a caloric deficit.

It’s that simple: calories in vs calories out over a long period of time.

I know fad diets and weight loss treatments are trendy and exciting. But anything that sounds too good to be true usually is. The last thing I want my clients doing is setting unrealistic goals and setting themselves up for failure.

Together, we’ll create realistic goals that you can absolutely hit and set you up for success for the rest of your life.

GOING IT ALONE

Have you noticed a theme? The keyword of this post is ‘Together’. Life is better with company and anything is easier if you have a helping hand.

My help doesn’t just come when we workout. I make myself available 24/7 for my clients. I encourage them to send me screen grabs of their daily steps and calories. I love it when I receive photos of their meals so I can provide info on what to eat and what to avoid. When a client is feeling down, we get together or make time for a call to make sure their mental health is in the right place to accomplish their physical goals.

When I say ‘We are in this together’, I mean it.
